Drifting thoughts, part 6
An analysis of some old concepts, yet with a renewed perception shaped by new experiences
It has been a long while since I wrote one of those, as even though I've talked about several concepts and how I approach them through my work and my understanding of things, those little entries were done back then, when I was a different person. What I mean by that is that, of course, we are all shaped by the various experiences we go through in our life and thus we change and adapt constantly. Unless we are kept by routine or are unnaturally stable with our everyday habits, the person we are today and the person we were a year ago are different, sometimes vastly so, as due to events, projects and experiences that we go through. With this being said, I think it's time to use yet another chapter of Drifting Thoughts for me to get a grip on what is happening and what might happen on this page, but also in my life. I hope you're ready for another pseudo-philosophical ride.

Shantae: Dancing Trance
*This is a sequel to another story of mine. I would suggest you read it before reading this one: *
Self-doubt was most assuredly her worst enemy.
As she moved in the backstage of the dance parlor, Shantae felt a tinge of anxiety in her throat and her stomach, as she knew she'd need to perform once again, trying to keep up with the reputation she had gained. Despite the fact that she had vanquished the Pirate Lord, saved Sequin Land too many times to count and fought monsters twice her size, she always had that little fear lodged within her gut that made her slightly hesitate to get on the stage. They all loved her, of course, and that little concern would be reduced to naught when the spotlights would be on her, yet there was always this nagging little thought that dragged her upbeat attitude down.
What if she made a mistake?
Always shouldering huge responsibilities and taking it all upon itself when danger arose, the quiet moments like these

The Gerudo Era, part 12
It had been a long time since she had been free like this.
After watching the now-liberated Link get out of her tent, Nabooru felt a little troubled at what she had done and what she believed had been done to her. With mixed feelings about using this ancestral and dangerous technique, even for beneficial purposes, the unease she felt would not go away as even though she had probably helped a great hero in his time of need. It was not the fact that she could have messed him up even more than he already was or that she could relate to his plea even when he was under her control. What disturbed her most was the fact that she had, deep in her mind, enjoyed the performance she had put. Even though she had been brought in a trance against her will for so long, there had been a definite thrill to what she had done, to the way Link had been subjugated and seduced by her prowess, on how he couldn't resist her dance. Was it a curse for the Gerudo to be able to dance and enslave people, to make t

How Tuki got her groove
All was peaceful and quiet in Scuttle Town...
''You can't fire me!''
For the most part, as the citizens strolled by the marketplace, making their best to ignore the sudden outburst that came from the item shop, the place of interest for adventurers and explorers alike.
''No, ssseriously, you can't fire me!''
The loud voice, coming from the back-store, startled most of the customers as the shopkeeper, embarrassed, tried to calm things down with the demanding and loud source of this outcry, a snake-woman of unknown origin that had bizarrely appeared in town, to no one's notice save for the shopkeeper himself.
''Where will I go? What will I do? I'm ssso close to my dream, I can almost tassste it! You can't do thisss to me!'' she complained, standing as tall as she could to look intimidating despite her flustered manners.
''You're right, Tuki, I can't fire you,'' the shopkeeper said, sighing a little as he looked at Tuki's smiling and radiant face as he announced that. ''Technically, you'r

The Gerudo Era, part 11
Shehra followed the Goron to the cave where Goron City was, in awe. Link was his name like her father’s? It made Shehra wonder much about him. “Um, L-L-Link?” she asked, hesitant to call him that considering the strangeness of the situation.
“Yes?” Link the Goron replied.
“I’m curious, where did you get that name from?” Shehra asked.
“My father gave it to me. He named me after the great hero of the Gorons who killed off the Dodongos and returned out main source of food back to our people,” Link replied.
“And who is your father?” Shehra asked.
At this, Link paused bringing his hands to his now hung-down head where he was rubbing his eyes as he began to cry, an act that caught Shehra off-guard. The Gerudos were a tough and firm people, not much of a crying type, but she figured that whatever had happened in this city involved this young Goron’s father. She had to get him to settle down if she was to get any ans

The police shremb
-Monday-
A police officer's work is never done. That's what Joe Abercrumple was thinking as he entered the precinct early in the morning. Coffee in hand and with the harsh desire to actually have a peaceful day, a rarity in this putrid city, he grimaced as he entered his workplace, trying to gather up his wits and courage for what would effectively be another day of possible horrors and unpleasantness. Heading to the locker room to get into his uniform, he began to hear multiple conversations going on around him as his eavesdropping habits made it irresistible for him to not listen to whatever rumors and others activities going on.
''I swear, that thing can't really be of any help...''
''...looks way too small and too harmless...''
''...but it's too cute and fluffy...''
Rising an eyebrow in confusion, he unclothed himself and then went on to pick up his firearm and his other tools, ready to enforce the law before he was accosted by Lieutenant Shapersky, his superior. ''Officer A

The Gerudo Era, part 10
Her resistance was crumbling fast.
For all her wisdom, inner strength and resolve, it was clear that Fiora was losing the battle within her body and mind. The venom coursing through her veins, her own actions were shaped by another will, making her a barely-aware puppet. Retaining even a modicum of her thoughts was a true challenge, yet one that she had not failed yet. It was a matter of time, but she had faith that the Gerudo and Link would somewhat find a way to rescue her, to free her before it would be too late. Lost in darkness, both literally and figuratively, her sight had difficulty adjusting to her environment as her dulled senses and groggy vision didn't help her in the slightest in this dire predicament. She had no idea where she was or how she came to be here, but she still held up hope. Her ignorance, however, was dispelled by the sudden appearances of two bright flames, one blue and one fiery red, as it illuminated the area to reveal the figure of a particularly tall and

Shantae: The snake dancer
What kind of sword was this?
Looking through her inventory, Shantae dearly hoped that she had something that could help her in this tenuous situation. Having gone through a long ordeal, vanquished multiple enemies and being a little exhausted from such a long trip, the last thing she expected to see get in her way was a gigantic wall, one that she had no way around or below. Normally, such a challenge would be easily overcome by using her talent of transformation, dancing into her monkey form to overcome this, yet the multiple spikes and vicious enemies clinging on the surface seemed to imply that this solution was unfortunately unavailable for her at this moment. Her equipment, as small as it was, didn't include any rope, or any items that could allow her to jump higher, or to protect herself against such elements, what she did find, however, was a completely useless sword that, last she recall, Bolo had crafted for her.

This was a troublesome view.
Seeing, to her shock, her once best friend and leader now unconscious and in the service of Ganondorf, Namira then began to understand just why she had been away for all these years. Her first reaction was relief, her friend being actually alive, yet this reaction was not widespread in the camp, as her daughter rose her sword in the air, ready to finish her off.
“You will not harm anyone else ever again, traitor,” Shakti said, barely restraining her anger as she prepared to finish her opponent in a swift, efficient, yet decidedly messy strike.
“No!” Namira shouted, running over to her daughter and tackling her to the ground, trying to restrain her. “No Namira! This isn’t an enemy! She’s our former leader, Nabooru!”
Struggling against her mother, thoughts of revenge towards the one that dared attack her, Shakti suddenly stopped, hearing the name her mother spoke. Nabooru? The greatest thief in all of Gerudo Val

Hey there, those of you who enjoy my journal entries!

As I'm sure you're aware, considering the buzz behind it, the latest Zelda game has come out, making it so plenty of people are talking about it these days. Being a big fan of the series myself, I picked it up, along with the new console to play it whenever I want and I wanted to share a few thoughts about it with you all, without delving into spoiler territories, of course.

First of all, I absolutely love that game. A lot. It's got a very vast environmnent for the player to play with and to get lost into, with plenty of little hidden things and dangers for them to deal with. These is an attention to detail in this that makes it a very enjoyable experience, be it the fact that you have to factor in the temperature and react accordingly, how lightning can strike you during a storm if you're wearing too much metal equipment, how you can tame wild horses, the fact that you can change Link's outfit to suit your current needs (Link is a little fashion doll in this one) and so much more. It's a game that rewards exploration much like my favourite game in the series, Wind Waker, yet does so in a different manner.

It's a very different experience than previous entries in the Zelda series. It comes out with its own identity, yet it also provides plenty of familiarity for the fans in terms of content and elements that makes it a good play nonetheless. It's a mix of the old and the new that can really make it or break it for some, but so far after about 12 hours of play, I can safely say that I love it.

The game also looks beautiful in its design and its colors, with rich environments and plenty of different things to see. The Zoras, Gerudos, Hylians and other races all have a plethora of different models this time around (you can see a taller, a thicker or more muscular Gerudo, along with different clothes, hairstyles and so forth. It's great!).

The only downsides that I can think of, however, are how the weapons break perhaps a little too easily and how the framerate, at times, is a little wonky. You need to constantly pick up new weapons in this game, which means that if you fight a few enemies and have nothing left to confront them with, you're a little screwed unless you pick up stray weapons or steal those in enemy camps without being spotted. The framerate, too, while not a huge deal, is a little disappointing as it just makes the game look a little less stellar in rare occasions.

With all that said, I can heartily recommend it. It's fantastic and could redefine how we see the series from now on. It's an unique experience that most gamers will surely have strong feelings on.

...

With all that said, though, and since it's in the title, I have to confess a single thing.

I am smitten with Link in his Gerudo outfit. <3

I've told about what he looks like by sending links to fanart of the outfit, along with a screen from the game itself, but I've actually gotten the outfit in the game yesterday and I think I'm just gonna keep it on at all times.

I mean, how can you say no to that? i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/o…

*Warning: This story contains a few minor spoilers for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.*
He wasn't entirely sure whether this plan would work.
Stuck at the Kara Kara Bazaar, Link needed to get into the city to get more information and find a way toward freeing Divine Beast Naboris from Ganon's clutches, yet an unprecedented obstacle had blocked his path toward his noble quest: they weren't letting men get inside Gerudo Town. ''Voe'', as they named them, were forbidden entrance as per their customs and laws, so even though he needed to get in to get supplies, get some intelligence on the surroundings and some help from the locals, his demands fell on dear ears as the law was strict and clear: he wouldn't enter inside through conventional means. Rumours had it, though, that a particular merchant had found a way in, a trick that would make it so he'd get some progress on this quest of his. However, it was not exactly what Link expected...
He'd have to dress like a woman to get

Thankfully, the plan had worked. Now walking inside Gerudo Town, all Link had to do was make sure that no one would find him suspicious, or else he'd have to find yet another way to enter the premise. Now on his way to find information and perhaps some help on how to best approach Divine Beast Naboris, he went from one stall to the other, talking to people as they all seemed to be fooled by his appearance, each of them calling them a variation of ''little Vai'', which he was now aware was a saying for small woman. Inspecting himself even further, he sighed as he could see just why exactly he could easily pass for a woman. A slim stomach, a more athletic build rather than a buff one, his long hair, his petite hips, along with the veil to hide his adam's apple and the ampl

Hi there, you're a writer and I would like to ask you a question. Which are some of the best groups to post literature here on DA? :)

It all depends on what kind of writing you usually post. If it's fanfiction, romance, horror, erotica or other sorts of material, it's probably gonna find a better audience in certain groups rather than others. While there are some groups dedicated to literature in a general sense, I myself don't really know which group would be perfect for your submissions on this site. I tend to submit them to group focused on the concepts and approach to the material.

Sorry if that's not much help.

I do believe there are a lot of groups for fanfictions on this site, even for specific games and franchises to boot. You might want to take a look at some stories set in what you usually write and that ought to lead you to some groups in which you can submit your work.
